The male trodded lightly into the foresty green of the huge bundle of bushes and trees. It was a duller green than the jungle he was born in, but it was still as mysterious and beautiful. A blue and silver river ran through it, and the bushes sprung up next to it. The ground was brown instead of green, the trees were tall and dark instead of bright and outward; the entire forest was just amazing, different from the jungle in so many ways.
He then began to follow the river like a fence. This river they had followed from the mountains it originated from, he and the tigress named Fiera. Ben had met the pretty white female from the circus, which was lost to a blanket of snow. Even though it brought back terrible memories, the bronze male felt slightly...lost.
"Wow..." he muttered, as he eyed the few birds that flew past. The birds were dull and dark, not colorful and bright. He liked it that way. Not so much colour and brightness. Just peaceful and dark. "Hey, Fi, check this out..." he said, as he stared at a little bush. It had some sort of tiny black bird in it, and it had a pretty white 'bib' on it's chest. "It's pretty, hey?" he said, smiling with awe.
"Am I dead or am I dreaming instead?"

They had gotten somewhat close - at least, in her opinion - on their travel together. Of course, this was fortunate. She assumed they would be with each other for a time to come, so getting along was key.
But it was nice to have a friend, regardless of the circumstances.
Fiera's nickname rolling from the lion's tongue caught her attention, and she hobbled forward to his side to peer at the bird of interest, glad of both the sight and that her paw was healing.
"It's beautiful," The ivory tigress agreed. "So different to the jungle birds, isn't it?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,550,true][bg=000000] The pretty female eyed the bird, which looked rather uneasy, as words flew out of her lips. Ben was too immersed in his bird watching he nearly missed what she was saying. He looked to her immediately, and nodded, making sure it looked like he was listening. The little bird tweeted a little song, then flew off. It was beautiful compared to the harsh calls of parrots and macaws. Ben decided to take a few steps further, looking back occasionally at Fiera, before reaching a small bush. Everything about this place was entirely different, unique, and it was almost…calming. A lot more calming than the rushed life of the jungle. The bush was a dull green with tiny, circular leaves, with small berries growing off of it in clumps. The berries were black, or at least dark purple, and smelled sweet. "Is it just me? Or do these smell amazing…" he muttered, beginning to push his snout into the bush, pale mane slowly collapsing around his face. "Am I dead or am I dreaming instead?"

She could tell he hadn't been listening, but the bird was beautiful and completely different to what the both of them were used to. He made an effort to appear as though he had been listening, however, so she would forgive him. It was not such a big deal, anyway.
The handsome male trotted forward, looking over his shoulder at her, and Fiera followed faithfully, exploring her surroundings with viridian eyes bright with curiosity.
Ben drew her attention to the berry-filled bush moments before their delectible aroma filled her nostrils, and she gave a murr, "Yes, they do!"
Concern danced behind her eyes, and she warned, pulling up close beside him, "Careful, Ben. We have no idea what these may do to us. Perhaps we should wait until we see another animal eating them?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,550,true][bg=000000] As Ben continued to smell the berries in a dream-like state, Fiera stood close beside him, concern in her usually sweet voice. "Careful, Ben. We have no idea what these may do to us. Perhaps we should wait until we see another animal eating them?"she asked, and Ben took her words into thought. They had never been in a forest before. They didn't know what was dangerous and what wasn't. He pulled way from the sweet-smelling bush, and looked at Fiera. "Yeah...maybe you're right. Don't wanna end up...blind...or something." he said, last few words becoming a mutter as he realised he was half blind already.
Ben's one sapphire orb watched his surroundings, with awe as the strange looking trees swayed gently with the breeze. "I think we should continue...maybe. Just incase of...I dunno...other predators?" he suggested, thinking about the predators in the forest. He'd heard of these doggish creatures called wolves, and apparently they were pretty strong things. He had some idea of what they looked like, he'd seen a dog before when he was in the circus, but he wasn't sure how big they were, how deadly they were. He gulped at the thought of it. "Fiera...do you know how big wolves are? Just out of curiosity..." he added, looking from the forest to the tigress.
"Am I dead or am I dreaming instead?"

Wolves? She had seen something of the like on her journey to the circus, though a friend on the road had informed her that it was what one called a coyote, which was supposed to be similiar.
"Do you know what a coyote looks like?" Fiera enquired, lifting her paw from the leaf-littered floor to show a height. "They're about this big, usually sort of creamy-yellow, doggish? Wolves are over twice as big."
She nodded, "Good idea. We wouldn't want to run into any predators when we're still trying to learn what our surroundings are."
